The First Step
If you are sitting there
thinking 'I want to give up smoking' then you are already giving
yourself a tough task. The whole idea of giving something up implies
making a sacrifice.
Why should
stopping a pursuit that damages your health, costs you a fortune,
makes you smell, and gives you no benefits be considered a sacrifice?
Quite the opposite is true - you should be wondering why you ever
started smoking in the first place.
Okay, so
you're not giving up smoking, you are stopping smoking,
and in doing so you are freeing yourself from a lifetime of slavery.
That sounds
fine in theory, and your conscious, rational mind has known since
the start that it is not good for you. But how are you going to
convince the other side of you - the side that you are unable to
control - the side of you that makes you smoke despite knowing the
risks and costs. I am going to take you right back to the start,
to your very first cigarette, asking you why you smoked it and why
you continued to smoke after it. Once we establish why you started
and why you smoke now, we will be able to look at each reason and
expose it as complete nonsense. Then we will replace each of your
reasons for smoking with a reason why you should stop. By doing
this you will be certain that you want to stop, that you will be
able to stop and that you will enjoy the whole process of stopping,
right from the first day.
But
here is the good part - You will not smoke your last cigarette until
you are completely convinced that you are ready. You will know when
you are ready because you will start to look at the cigarette in
your hand and wonder why you are smoking it.
Sounds
too good to be true?
